The Festival Música nas Montanhas ( Music on the Mountains Festival) takes place in the city of Poços de Caldas in the state of Minas Gerais, 250 km from Sao Paulo city in Brazil.

The city is a small tourism resort known for its hot medicinal water and nice climate during summer time. It is a small beautiful city and gathers between 700 to 800 students for 2 weeks. Next dates: Jan 04 trough 17, 2009.

Students must arrive in São Paulo on the morning of Sunday Jan 4th and be in Poços de Caldas by noon at most of the same day ( 4 h by bus, 3 h by car from Sao Paulo).

The students willing to go to the music festival must have some important issues taken care:

1. Visa: It is necessary to get the appropriate visa to Brazil if you are coming from a country that is not from South America or other countries that do not ask visa to Brazil.
   
2. Find out if you qualify for any financial help to room and board. Advanced string players are priority and some wind instruments too. In general advanced orchestra instrument students always have chance to qualify.
   
3. There is no financial help for traveling. However, the festival can assist you on getting the appropriate transportation from Sao Paulo to Poços de Caldas.
   
4. Without financial help: hotel with room and board ( 3 full meals a day) costs around U$ 250.00 dollars for the 2 weeks. The festival can help you on the reservation of this hotels. The festival does not profit from it and has agreements with some hotels to make a better price for the students.
   
5. Travelling: Because it is high season it is advisable to get air tickets in advance.

• To Brazil: flight must to go Sao Paulo-SP, airport of GUARULHOS (GRU).
• Must arrive on Sunday Jan 4rth early in the morning at most. It takes approximately 4 h drive to go to Poços de Caldas where the festival takes place.
• Note: a good idea is to arrive on Saturday Jan 3rd and already be at Poços de Caldas on the night of Jan 3rd.

• From Brazil: Departure should be made from the same airport of Guarulhos (GRU).
• The closing concert will be on Saturday Jan17th. Must consider 6 hours at least from leaving Poços de Caldas and the 2h before the flight time for check in. Ideal time for flights should be on Sunday after 4 pm.
